Parque San Mateo

Parque San Mateo is a green lung that began when a group of neighbors set out to reclaim an abandoned lot in Curacaví, removing more than 30 tons of trash from the area before starting to reforest it. Today it's a space for recreation, sport, and connection with nature, run by the Corporación Ecológica San Mateo in partnership with the Municipality of Curacaví. It has two native forests planted using the Miyawaki method and water-harvesting techniques, home to species like quillay, peumo, algarrobo, maitén, and belloto del sur and del norte. It hosts school visits for native flora workshops, school gardens, recycling, and composting.
